My Perfect Mate Page 12
Susan felt another climax rising. She tightened around him. JP pounded into her. Again and again. He gripped her hips, lifting her to take him deeper. She was in his mind, as he was in hers. Their bodies engulfed in an age-old dance. Pleasure rose on a wave and crashed over both of them. JP shouted. His mind firmly wrapped around hers. Susan blew apart. Safe in her mate, she let darkness take her.

Susan awoke held tightly in Jean-Paul’s arms. They lay in their bed, snuggled warm under the covers. Susan smiled knowing JP cleaned her and put her to bed after their last playtime. She looked around the room they had made with magic alone. It amazed her what magic could make from the elements.
JP nuzzled her hair. She could feel his growing need poking her behind.
“You are insatiable. I have a meeting to go to and I need to shower. You don’t want everyone smelling sex on me,” Susan said.
“As long as it’s sex with me. But, no. I don’t want them smelling you at all. I don’t know why I let you postpone our honeymoon. A husband has needs, you know.”
“So impatient. I’ll give you everything you need in our playroom, later tonight. Right now. Shower.”
“Yes, ma’am. Can I join you?”
“Only if you make it quick. You know how important this meeting is. The polar bears are finally considering the lycan’s request to adopt the amarok children.”
“It would be better if the children didn’t need to be adopted,” JP grumbled, climbing from the bed and following her into the bathroom.
“This problem isn’t going to be settled in one generation. It’ll take time. At least they realize the children shouldn’t be killed. Ujarak sent a message saying the nanuk councils have outlawed leaving the children on the ice. Qannik is working with him to bring the nanuk around. Her grandfather as the shaman of the clan has a lot of influence.” Susan ran her hands over the granite counter tops before turning on the water in the shower.
“I don’t know how we’re ever going to get away for a honeymoon with you taking the position as lycan liaison to the nanuk and amarok.” Susan turned to look at JP. He stood sullen leaning against the door.
“I thought you were okay with this.” She walked over and kissed him. He stared at her, many emotions flowing through him at once. She took his hand and led him to the shower. Pushing him under the warm water she reached for the soap and sponge. It looked like her mate felt a little neglected. She proceeded to wash him from head to toe and front to back.
She kneeled at his feet and began to lick him. He grabbed her up and held her against the tile. Susan gasped. He kissed her hard. Then plunged deep, connecting their bodies. At the same time he pulled on the lycan mating bond, linking their minds.
“You are my everything. My life,” floated into her mind.
Susan wrapped her arms tighter around him. She let the pleasure of their joining and the warm water washing over them carry her away. Nothing else was as important as this moment with her mate.
When they finished and their hearts slowed and breath settled. Susan kissed Jean-Paul gently. “I love you. You are the most important person in my life. If you want me to stop working with the nanuk and amarok, I will.”
“No.” Jean-Paul leaned his head against hers. “It makes you happy to help them. You’ve blossomed into a strong resilient woman. I would never take that from you. Your work is so important. To all our futures. I will stand by you, always.” He sighed.
Susan chuckled. “You don’t have to be a martyr. If I get too caught up with my work, I give you permission to tie me up and carry me away.”
Epilogue
“JP, did you get the extra bottles?” Susan called as she finished packing the diaper bag. She smiled at her adopted amarok daughter, Matilda, who sat in her walker, playing. Then she frowned. Would Matty’s biological parents come to the Family Day arranged for the nanuk, lycans, and amarok? This was its third year and each year it got bigger and bigger. The lycans and amarok were even beginning to use the gathering for mate searching. Food tents and children’s rides for the little ones were set up.
“I already put them in the car. Luc helped me, didn’t you big guy?” Jean-Paul lifted their three-year-old son onto his shoulders.
“Now, Luc, remember, no magic without permission, right?” Susan admonished her Avery son.
“Yes, Mommy.”
Susan smiled. Like most children, her firstborn grew so fast. He looked so much like his father with his dark hair. JP already taught him some rudimentary spells.
“Will Uncle Ujarak and Auntie Aisyt be there, and Yakone? I miss playing with her.” Luc asked.
“If she is, we’ll set up a play date.” There weren’t many children like Luc and Ujarak’s daughter, Yakone, who were both shifter and Fae, or witch-kind as most people thought. Most shifters were immune to magic, but children of the Fae, had dual sides and were only immune in their animal forms, while their human forms could work the elements like any witch.
“If everyone’s ready, then it’s time to get in the car. We don’t want Mommy to be late for her welcome speech. Come on, Luc, let’s help Mommy with the diaper bag.”
“I don’t know why I always have to give the welcome speech. Aisyt or Qannik could do it just as well.” Susan reached down and picked up little Matty. “I’d much rather stay in the background with you, darling girl.”
“Qannik won’t be there this year. She’s gone to Siberia. Aisyt is worried about her. Every year she sees so many families reunited.”
“And hers never will be. Yeah, that would be hard,” Susan agreed. “She’s done so much for the amarok children. It’s too bad she can’t take pleasure from it.”
“She needs time to heal. Her work helps, but she still hasn’t forgiven herself for her father’s death. It might do her some good to get away for a while.” Jean-Paul finished strapping Luc into his car seat and reached back to take Matty. “I’ll put her in the car seat. Here you are, my little darling. I like the outfit your Mommy put you in. Are those suns or flowers on your dress?”
“I think they’re flowers,” Susan said getting into the front of the SUV.
“Well, whatever they are, my little darling looks great.”
Susan smiled. Jean-Paul was such a good father. He finished putting Matilda into her seat and walked around to get in the driver’s seat. Starting the car, he paused before putting it into gear. Susan looked over expectantly.
“Have I told you how beautiful you look today?”
Susan smiled. “I think you might have mentioned it this morning before we got out of bed.”
“How about, how much I love you?” JP asked.
Susan nodded. “Yup, during breakfast.” She loved how he took the time to remind her.
“Well then, what are we waiting for? I want the whole world to hear your wonderful speech.” Jean-Paul pulled out of the yard.
Susan laughed delighted. She’d always have her new family’s love and support. She heard the promise in JP’s voice. She needed him to keep her grounded while trying to solve such a difficult problem as racism against the amarok children. He had every intention of kidnapping her and taking her away to ravish her. She couldn’t wait. She’d been so lucky to find the perfect mate.
